Chess PLUS Art Camp by Chess4Life
Chess4Life
First camp: July 20-24th; Second camp: July 27th-31st.
Camp Overview
This is a full-day camp with activities split between half-day of chess and half-day of Art and play.
Chess Camp
Students are taught at their level of understanding as our instructors make the game come to life through daily lessons! Using curriculum created by National Master Elliott Neff and the Chess4Life curriculum development team, our coaching staff strive to cultivate students' excitement for learning!
Each camp provides an education program tailored to your child's needs by assessment on the first day. Each instructor is given the goal of challenging students with new material, reinforcing a solid foundation, and encouraging growth of positive life skills. Groups are designed with a low student to coach ratio to promote quality instruction and a personalized experience.
Chess4Life is a great place to bring friends and make new ones! Every student has room to grow and play, while learning valuable life skills in each of our camps. Drop-off and pick-up schedule options are available for busy families like yours, with creative, fun and engaging after-camp programs. Your child will be well taken care of!
Art Camp
Visual Arts campers will get to use a variety of media and art techniques to create works of art in the styles of such famous artists as Seurat, Matisse, Miro, and Pollock. Emphasis will be placed on elements of art skill-building as campers express themselves using watercolors, tempera, oil pastels, chalk, and more. Several take-home pieces will be created throughout the week to create a fantastic week long art portfolio which will include chess-themed art pieces. There will be a lot of paint! Prepare to have fun and get messy!
Activities & Instruction
Each day campers will engage in a wide variety of topics from opening principles, middle game tactics and various endgame strategies to learning famous games of Grandmasters and more! With daily tournament games every camper will have a chance to practice what is taught and compete for awards. Other fun activities include puzzles, recess, and bug-house & blitz!

Chess4Life

The mission of Chess4Life is teaching life skills through chess and, in doing so, positively impact as many children's lives as possible. Through the game of chess we endeavor to teach character qualities and the importance of a core set of values. We do this through the instruction of our proprietary curriculum and, perhaps more importantly, our own personal example. We stand by the adage that what we do frequently speaks louder than what we say. Our promise is that students at Chess4Life will learn chess, learn life skills, and have fun.

Seeing children develop into confident, persistent achievers is a wonderful reward for the work put into making Chess4Life happen. Chess4Life focuses on encouraging students at all levels, developing sportsmanship and ''team play,'' and providing the right environment and experiences that students need in order to excel in chess and their personal endeavors throughout the course of their lives.

Chess4Life has a proven, proprietary training system that has produced multiple national champion students and some of the highest ranked students in the United States.

Chess4Life has developed an instruction system for students that focuses on understanding chess and how to think effectively during play so students can figure out the best move in any position, not just memorize patterns of movement. The program also helps students avoid developing bad habits that are difficult to correct.

Our classes generally consist of the following elements:

Lesson or lecture on chess strategies and tactics

Chess exercises, including puzzles

Practice time for chess play

Reviewing material learned

Our coaches employ a number of teaching tools including DVD’s and Workbooks created and designed by a highly skilled team of chess coaches lead by NM Elliott Neff. Elliott and his team have spent hundreds of hours developing curriculum and an instructional system that helps students establish a very strong foundation while avoiding bad habits and preparing the student for continual achievement, ongoing progression, and success. This training program and content are present in some form in all Chess4Life programs but it is delivered most comprehensively in Chess4Life’s Premium Center Classes.

We at Chess4Life very much look forward to working with you and your children to positively impact their lives through chess.
