Summer Science SeaCamp: Marine Field Investigations
Foss Waterway Seaport
Campers will be challenged to solve a "problem" of their own creation as they explore local marine habitats. Boat days will include exploration, scientific research and creative problem solving.
This SeaCamp offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that embraces field science activities and engages participants in critical-thinking to address real world issues – a week full of thrilling and unusual experiences!
Campers will participate in the following activities:
- Explore hands-on field investigations
- Collect water quality samples and data for research
- Conduct plankton tows
- Learn to plot GPS/GIS mapping
- Perform scientific “pollution” experiments
- Learn about marine organisms and ecosystem dynamics, ocean currents, waves
- Turn science results into art…pure magic
Monday to Friday- 9:00am to 4:00pm. Campers may be dropped off as early as 8:45am and must be picked up by 4:15pm.
