The Eastside Greenthumbs - Sustainable Roots
Sustainable Roots
The EASTSIDE GREENTHUMBS is a free, environmentally-focused summer program run through the Sustainable Roots project of the Northwest Leadership Foundation. Campers learn about gardening through hands-on practices in the Roosevelt school garden. The program takes regular field trips throughout the Tacoma area to explore sustainability, community, food justice, and mindfulness through the lens of gardening. Field trips include trips to a small organic farm in Puyallup, a hike through nearby forests, food foraging in Swan Creek, and more! Campers also apply what they learn through community service projects.
The program takes place Monday through Thursday, 9am - 3pm
